Texas' three horse racing tracks have backed away from a plan to consolidate their thoroughbred meets.
Sam Houston Race
Park, Retama Park outside San Antonio and Lone Star Park in the
Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex have requested racing dates, which will be
considered Tuesday at a meeting of the Texas Racing Commission in
Austin.
Under the current
plan, Sam Houston Race Park would run a 27-day thoroughbred meet Jan.
21 to March 12 of next year, followed by a 30-day quarter-horse meet
March 18 to May 15.
