A group trying to bring a horse-racing track to the Youngstown area is spreading a rumor that Beulah Park in Grove City may be about to move.
The owner of Beulah Park, Penn National Gaming Inc., said it will not comment on rumors.
A group calling itself Mahoning Valley Development Group said today that it hopes to spend $300 million to develop a horse track and resort complex on 100 acres. The group is led by two Cleveland-area entrepreneurs, Rick Lertzman and Bradford Pressman, who were behind an unsuccessful ballot measure in 2008 that would have brought a casino to Wilmington
"We have heard rumors that Penn Gaming was considering relocating Toledo's Raceway Park or Beulah Park in Columbus," Pressman said in a news release.
Penn National owns both of the tracks and is also developing casinos in Toledo and Columbus' West Side.
