Trainer Jorge Navarro enjoyed a banner day at Monmouth Park on Sunday, winning four races, tying him for most victories on a single card at the Oceanport racetrack.

A 38-year-old native of Panama, Navarro’s four-bagger kicked off in race three with Awesome Vow ($3.60).   He then won the fifth with Don’tcallmeshirley ($3), the eighth with first-time starter All About Karma ($11) and the ninth with Conte ($4.60).

Navarro tied the mark of four wins on a single card set by J. Willard Thompson on Sept. 8, 1975 and equaled by Robert Klesaris on July 10, 1987; John Forbes on Aug. 28, 1989; and, Kiaran McLaughlin on July 9, 2011.

With his four wins on Sunday, Navarro moved into the lead for top conditioner at Monmouth Park saddling 41 winners this meet, two more than Eddie Plesa Jr.  The 2013 racing season runs through Sunday, Oct. 6.
