Name These Rivals!

Name These Rivals

Rival Clue #1 - Bred in different states, we were both bay colts who won stakes in every season that we were on the track.

Rival Clue #2- Our first career meeting came in a maiden race, our last one came in the inaugural edition of a big race.

Rival Clue #3- Both rivals broke their maiden in their second career start, and at a distance 6 ½ furlongs shorter than their longest career victory.

Rival Clue #4 - The rivalry lasted over three seasons with multiple meetings each year.

Rival Clue #5 - Born in different countries, both of our trainers ended up in the United States Racing Hall of Fame.

Rival Clue #6 - Combined, we were victorious in more than half of our nearly 60 career starts.

Do you know who we are yet?

Rival Clue #7 - Between the two of us, we collected a championship in three consecutive years.

Rival Clue #8 - One of us was the race favorite in five or our meetings, while the other was the favorite four times.

Rival Clue #9 - Our respective records in the rivalry were: 10-5-1-1 and 10-1-3-2.

Rival Clue #10 - The majority of our stakes wins came in New York, but each rival won a stakes race at Churchill Downs in the spring.

Rival Clue #11 - The lone Hall of Famer of the pair finished ahead of his rival in six out of ten.

Rival Clue #12 - Born the same year, our racing careers ended exactly one month apart.

Go ahead … Name us both!

Well solved, champ ... those were the two clues I thought might be the most telling ... Can anyone stop his run next week?
The two clues that were key were two horses who won three consecutive championships between them, but only one being in the HOF and the last meeting in the inaugural running of a big race. I had a couple potentials and then I eliminated all the ones that didn't have two bays. Then I remembered that those two faced off pretty much from the start of their careers and finished up in the Marlboro Cup.
Congrats again, Chris!
Which clue(s) gave it away?
How did you get it so quick!?
Silver Charm and Free House?
You made me think that one through.
I just got to Riva and Key to the Mint. Too Late again.
Ladies and Gentlemen, he's done it again ... Yes, Chris ... It is Riva Ridge & Key to the Mint!
Riva Ridge and Key To The Mint?
It is not Alydar & Affirmed, nor is it Kelso & Gun Bow.
Kelso & Gun Bow?

Affirmed & Alydar?
