Name These Rivals!

Name These Rivals

Rival Clue #1 - Not only were we horses of a different color, but we were bred in different countries.

Rival Clue #2- Our career debuts resulted in completely different outcomes, but they did take place at the same track.

Rival Clue #3- Our graded stakes debuts took place at what is now called Parx and at Belmont Park respectively; we both finished second.

Rival Clue #4 - The rivalry did not begin until each of us was older, but once it got going, it lasted more than seven months and at five different racetracks.

Rival Clue #5 - All of our meetings were in graded stakes, and half of the six were grade 1.

Rival Clue #6 - Together, we ran more than 50 times, and were one victory shy of winning exactly half of our combined starts.

Do you know who we are yet?

Rival Clue #7 - While one rival never won a year-end award, the other was an Eclipse Award winner in three straight seasons.

Rival Clue #8 - Only one of the rivals ran in the Kentucky Derby, and finished off the board.

Rival Clue #9 - Our respective records in the rivalry were: 6-3-2-1 and 6-2-3-1.

Rival Clue #10 - One rival’s longest winning streak was four, while the other strung together a streak more than double that.

Rival Clue #11 - Only one of us made it into the Hall of Fame, but it was not the one who came out ahead in two-thirds of our meetings.

Rival Clue #12 - Born the same year, one rival retired at five, while the other never raced past  four.

Go ahead … Name us both!

Very nice !
Well played, champ!
Well done!
Eclipse winner for three years. If you would've said champion for three years it would have opened it up quite a bit more. Since the Eclipse Awards started there have been a very limited number of horses who have taken the trophy for three consecutive years.
skip away and formal gold
That was amazing!
What gave it away tonight?
OK, Chris ... you are amazing. Formal Gold and Skip Away it is!
