Name These Rivals!

Name These Rivals

Rival Clue #1 - Our rivalry spanned over three racing seasons and nine memorable meetings.

Rival Clue #2 - Both champions, we were honored with year-end awards one year apart.

Rival Clue #3 - In our first meeting, we finished 1st and 3rd, with the winner getting blinkers for the first of 16 consecutive times.

Rival Clue #4 - Our final rivalry tally finished with a score of 6-3 in favor of the horse that did not win a Horse of the Year award.

Rival Clue #5 - Neither rival ever ran in allowance race, and each one enjoyed a stakes winning streak of at least four.

Rival Clue #6 - One rival was a Kentucky homebred, while the other was bred west of the Mississippi.

Do you know who we are yet?

Rival Clue #7 - In our final meeting, we finished 3rd and 4th at odds of 9-5 and 8-5 respectively.

Rival Clue #8Each rival won a single leg of America’s Triple Crown.

Rival Clue #9 - One of our trainers is in the Hall of Fame, while the other is an Indiana Native who won his first race at Portland Meadows.

Rival Clue #10 - Our respective records in the rivalry were: 9-2-3-2 and 9-4-1-2.

Rival Clue #11 - One rival’s final race came within the rivalry, while the other won an epic battle four races later.

Rival Clue #12 - Born the same year, one rival retired at four, the other at five, while combining for more than 20 wins in more than 50 career starts.

Go ahead … Name us both!
