Name These Rivals!

Name These Rivals

Rival Clue #1 - Our rivalry may not have lasted long, but we packed plenty of action within a month.

Rival Clue #2 - One rival’s initial stakes attempt came in the Grade 3 Hutcheson while the other’s came in the Grade 3 Breeders’ Futurity.

Rival Clue #3 - In our final meeting, we ran 1-2 at Belmont in a 12 furlong race, and it was not the Jockey Club Gold Cup.

Rival Clue #4 - All of our meetings came in Grade 1 races.

Rival Clue #5 - We twice competed in races with three champions in the field; the same horse won each time.

Rival Clue #6 - One rival was a Kentucky homebred of a historic farm, the other’s sire was not native to the U.S.

Do you know who we are yet?

Rival Clue #7 - It took the third try for the only rival to have made it into the Hall of Fame to come out on top in our contests against each other.

Rival Clue #8 - One of us raced at Bowie, while the other competed at Hialeah half a dozen times.

Rival Clue #9 - Our respective records in the rivalry were 3-2-1-0 and 3-1-1-0.

Rival Clue #10 - One of us won a Grade 1 at Saratoga by double digit lengths, the other was a graded stakes winner going short and long.

Rival Clue #11 - Each rival won more than 55% of our lifetime races, and combined we earned nearly 2.5 million dollars.

Rival Clue #12 - We were born two years apart and retired three years apart.

Go ahead … Name us both!

Arghhhhhh - wait to go, Chris.
Challenge accepted
congrats Chris!
Well played, Chris ... I thought the graded stakes mentions would be important for timing ... Come back and try to defend your crown next week!
Based on most of the clues I figured it was in the seventies so Forego had to come into play and I remembered he and Wajima faced off in three starts with Forego getting the win in the final.
The clue about seperation of starting and ending their careers is what made me think Kelso (since he raced so long)... I completely didn't even think about Forego, who also raced like 6 or 7 years.
Sept. 1975, Congrats to Chris.
DANGIT I COULD HAVE SWORN ONE WAS KELSO.
I was thinking turf. I tried. Congrats to the winner.
Oh, nevermind, I'm late... Nice job, Chris.
Gah. Half right! Congrats Chris!
Congratulations, Chris! How did you nail this one down?
KELSO AND GUN BOW???
