Name These Rivals!

Name These Rivals

Rival Clue #1 - One rival was bred in the Bluegrass of Kentucky, the other was bred outside the U.S.

Rival Clue #2- Both rivals enjoyed a three-race winning streak as a juvenile, and each won more than one stakes race that year.

Rival Clue #3- In all of our three matchups, no horse ever finished between us.

Rival Clue #4 - Both rivals were multiple graded stakes winners in two different seasons; one season was the same, the other was not.

Rival Clue #5 - Only one rival ran in the Kentucky Derby, and had a good, but not winning, result.

Rival Clue #6 - Our closest finish came in our second  meeting when we ran 1-2,  as the 7-5 second choice, and 6-5 favorite, respectively.

Do you know who we are yet?

Rival Clue #7 - We both competed in the Breeders’ Cup just once, faced each other, and finished a length apart.

Rival Clue #8 - Amazingly, our sires ran in the same BC race ten years earlier and occupied the same two finish positions that we did.

Rival Clue #9 - Combined we won 56% of our lifetime races, and took home 15 stakes victories.

Rival Clue #10 - The rival who finished ahead of the other in two of three, won more races, and won more graded stakes, was the one never named a champion.

Rival Clue #11 -  In our respective final career races, one rival won a grade 1, while the other could not manage a top three finish.

Rival Clue #12 - Although one rival’s career lasted a season longer than the other, each started in exactly the same amount of lifetime races.

Go ahead … Name us both!
