The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) has
unveiled the “New York Watch” website, the online home for the series launched
in January that shines the spotlight on promising colts and fillies that have
recently cleared the maiden and allowance ranks at Aqueduct Racetrack, Belmont
Park, or Saratoga
Racecourse.
The website is located online at http://www.nyra.com/nywatch. Therein,
fans can read details, view photos, and watch race replays of each featured horse.
“One of the most engaging aspects of thoroughbred
racing is following the sport’s potential up-and-coming superstars,” said NYRA
Director of Communications Dan Silver.
“New York racing has
been a springboard to success for many racing legends, and the New York Watch
website will allow fans to identify these horses as their careers commence.”
Many of the industry’s brightest stars embarked upon
their careers at the NYRA tracks, including a number of recent Triple Crown
race winners. Big Brown, Jazil, Birdstone, Funny Cide, and Empire Maker are all
among the Derby,
Preakness, and Belmont Stakes victors that kick-started their careers at
Aqueduct, Belmont
Park,
or Saratoga.
The list also includes a brilliant triumvirate of
fillies that broke their maidens at Aqueduct. Flashing, Little Belle, and Music
Note all registered their first victories at the Big A before going on to win
major Grade 1 races within the last two years.
So far, the New York Watch series has spotlighted four
horses: Eightyfiveinafifty, Tempted to Tapit, Rule by Night, and Does It Every
Time.
