Jungle Stable’s Mizdirection, winner of four consecutive graded
stakes, worked five furlongs on turf in 1:00 1/5 Sunday at Betfair
Hollywood Park in 1:00 1/5 in preparation for Saturday’s $500,000 Just a
Game Stakes at Belmont Park.
Under Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith, Mizdirection was timed in 23
3/5 for the opening quarter and 47 2/5 for a half mile, according to
track clocker and morning line maker Russ Hudak. Trainer Mike Puype, who caught the work in 59 4/5, said the Mizzen
Mast mare will fly to New York Tuesday for the mile grass race.
Mizdirection, owned in part by sports commentator Jime Rome, is one of five Grade 1 winners who are among the probables for the Grade 1, $500,000 Longines Just a Game for filly and mare turf horses. Best known for her success going short, Mizdirection, the 2012 Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint heroine, will aim for her second graded stakes score at one mile when she competes in the Longines Just a Game.
The race is also expected to attract Grade 1 winners Better Lucky, Centre Court, Dayatthespa, and Stephanie’s Kitten, as well as Hungry Island and Laugh Out Loud.
