Mueller Thoroughbred Stable’s Miss Inclined pressed the pace of Mike Rutherford and Terry Green’s
Bagmyfable in Monday’s
featured $51,000 allowance optional claiming dash for 3-year-old fillies
at Fair Grounds, inherited the lead when that one faltered and
continued willingly late for a 1 1/4-length tally.
The winner, trained by
Malcolm Pierce and ridden by Shaun Bridgmohan, toured the 5 1/2-furlongs of the race taken off the grass and run on the main track in 1:04.17, increased her career earnings
to $54,660 with her second victory in five lifetime starts and returned mutuels of $18.20, $6.40 and $3.20.
Stephanie Clark’s
Marvel Gaye was unhurried
early but rallied late to be clearly second best and pay $4.60 and
$2.40 while finishing a length in front of Double R Stable’s
Sam’s Bliss, who returned $2.10 to show.
Bagmyfable
set the pace with fractions of 22.46 and 46.17, veered out sharply
entering the lane, appeared to recover and regain a clear advantage
in the middle of the track but broke down during the late stages.
Racing resumes on
Fat Tuesday at Fair Grounds with a nine-race program beginning at 12:40 p.m. The
Mardi Gras program is the only Tuesday racing day of the 2010-2011 season at the
New Orleans oval.
