What the Nation is saying about Mike Smith to Pilot Drosselmeyer ...

I am not trying to trash First Dude or argue with his game Preakness effort. Just stating the facts. First Dude has one win in seven lifetime starts, and Belmont rivals Fly Down, Ice Box, and Stately Victor have all beaten him.
He's called a late bloomer, gardenesque1. I saw a game sob. lol
Ice Box and Drosselmeyer will be serious underlays. They just aren't that good. Look to a horse like Fly Down that is coming into a career top in the Belmont. First Dude will be right there due to his incredible ability to run when others are done.
It don't matter who pilots Drosselmeyer, he will just be watching Ice Box pass him down the stretch
First Dude remains eligible for an entry level spot and has lost all five of his starts around two turns.
First Dude can run all day.
Any one notice First Dude gallop out past a tired LAL? He looked strong.
Really interested to see what Drosselmeyer and Stay Put can do with an honest pace. I think one thing First Dude showed us is there is a lot of hidden form in the three-year-olds this year, as there isn't much between them, plus all the polytrack and slow paced races have hidden the talent of some.
I think he'll do good going a mile and a half. He's a long striding horse, with an outstanding pedigree, don't downgrade this horse yet.
Still a second tier horse no matter who rides him.
