The New York Racing
Association, Inc. (NYRA) has started a “Fan of the Day” promotion
in which former jockey and current NYRA television analyst Richard Migliore
will select two lucky fans for special behind-the-scenes access.
Every weekday – Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday –
for the remainder of the meet, Migliore will randomly select two winners from
the crowd. He will then accompany them into the paddock before a race, and then
to the winner’s circle to watch the race.
Additionally, after the race they will take part in the winner’s
circle photograph ceremony and receive copies of the photo to memorialize their
“Fan of the Day” experience.
Migliore, who began riding in 1980 and a year later won the Eclipse
Award as the nation’s top apprentice, retired in 2010 after winning more
than 4,400 races, including 362 stakes. Twice the leading rider in New York, “The
Mig” currently serves as a NYRA racing office associate in addition to
his role as a broadcast analyst.
