Meier Injured at Hawthorne

Rider Brandon Meier was transported to Loyola Medical Center following an accident in Friday’s second race at Hawthorne Race Course. Meier was unconscious on the track but started coming around on the way to the hospital and was able to move his arms and legs when directed.

Jesse Lantz, thrown from his mount when trying to steer away from the accident suffered a scraped and bloody nose but was able to resume his riding engagements.

Ubiquitous, a Tom Dorris trainee, was humanely euthanized following the incident.

Brandon Meier Update 5:45 PM CST: Brandon has regained consciousness. He’s mobile. CAT scans showed no bleeding on the brain. They are awaiting x-rays on his back, shoulder, and hip. He will be held in intensive care through the night. 

Brandon Meier Update - After examining x-rays, doctors concluded that Brandon Meier suffered no broken bones from the accident on Friday at Hawthorne Race Course. He will be released from the hospital on Sunday.

His girlfriend said on FB he is staying with his Dad as he heals. Don't know a timeline for his return to the saddle.
We really need an update.
