Louisiana Derby Wars Starts Wednesday

DerbyWars logo

Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots and DerbyWars, the online horse racing tournament website, have launched a free online handicapping contest, Louisiana Derby Wars, set to begin Wednesday and run through Louisiana Derby Day, March 30, at FGNO.com/DerbyWars.

The Contest offers a grand prize of $2,000 in wagering credits on TwinSpires.com. The runner-up will receive $500 on TwinSpires.com. Other prizes include Brisnet.com subscriptions for Ultimate Past Performances, Sire Stats and American Produce Records, as well as tokens for future games on DerbyWars.com.

Players will compete daily on the last five races at Fair Grounds – the same races that make up the “Black Gold 5” jackpot carryover wager – for berths into a Louisiana Derby Day final.

Each daily contest will require players to select one horse for a mythical $2 Win/Place wager on each of the five races. The winner will be the contestant with the highest mythical bankroll at the end of each day. Daily prizes consist of $20 Brisnet.com credits for the top three finishers per contest.

The Louisiana Derby Day final will be open only to those who qualified in the daily contests, March 20-29.

Players can register anytime between now and March 29. New contests limited to 100 players per game will begin each live racing day.

Louisiana Derby Day will feature seven stakes races worth more than $2.5 million, including four Grade II events, topped by the milestone 100th running of the $1 million Louisiana Derby for 3-year-olds making their last start before the Kentucky Derby.

More details and complete rules are available on the contest home page at FGNO.com/DerbyWars.
