09 December 19: Lookin at Lucky (no. 1), ridden by Garrett Gomez and trained by Bob Baffert, wins the 29th running of the grade 1 CashCall Futurity Stakes for two year olds at Hollywood Park in Inglewood, California. Lookin At Lucky, winner of the Preakness Stakes (gr. I), missed a week’s training after coming down with a slight fever, which raises the question of whether he will be able to make the $1 million Haskell Invitational (gr. I) Aug. 1.

 

Trainer Bob Baffert also has Concord Point, winner of the June 26 Iowa Derby (gr. III), as a possible starter for the Haskell after the colt’s brilliant 8 1/2-length victory at Prairie Meadows.
