Lookin At Lucky indicated his sharpness Sept. 20, working six furlongs in a bullet 1:11 1/5 at Hollywood Park in preparation for the $500,000 Indiana Derby (gr. II) at Hoosier Park Oct. 2.
The son of Smart Strike had been battling an illness suffered after his authoritative victory in the Aug. 1 Haskell Invitational (gr. I) at Monmouth Park.
The $1-million Pennsylvania Derby (gr. II) Sept. 25 had been mentioned
as a possible next start prior to the illness, but the extra week was
important in Baffert’s decision to wait for the Indiana Derby, a race
he won last year with Misremembered.
