Let The Madness Begin - Hansen (video)

Hansen Workout

If this was a start of good things to come, I think we are in for a great treat. I headed over to Trackside at Churchill Downs this morning to grab a couple videos of Hansen before his scheduled work.

You can tell there is a special buzz around Trackside with Hansen. After the break at 8:00, a string of four or five horses came onto the track for trainer Mike Maker. One of them was Hansen. Once he got onto the track I noticed several exercise riders, grooms, and trainers come out of the stalls to watch him.

It's certainly a one of a kind sight to see the type of mood the entire Maker Stable was in. There were about 10 people who were surrounding Maker while watching Hansen on the track. Someone joked with Mike asking, "Did you make sure Hansen was favored in the future pool?" Of course, we found out yesterday Hansen is the early favorite for the final future pool for the Kentucky Derby. With a busy weekend ahead hopefully we will get a more clear picture of when trainers will start shipping horses to Louisville and I will be able to get you some more behind the scenes action. Until then, enjoy the weekend of racing!

Thanks for the videos. These are fantastic, especially since the networks will only have video of the final work of each contender.
