Robert LaPenta, owner of Florida Derby contender Dialed In, says his
Kentucky Derby hopeful has a lot in common with a certain Bluegrass
basketball team.
Dialed In was an early season darling, capturing Gulfstream Park’s
Holy Bull in his second career start. Then he narrowly lost an
allowance race to older horses and some of the luster came off his
reputation.
On a national conference call Tuesday, LaPenta compared the Derby
prep season with the NCAA Tournament, “where everybody seems to be able
to beat everybody.”
