Krone carries on despite broken leg

Julie Krone missed the Lady Legends Race for the Cure on Friday at Pimlico Race Course in Maryland, where eight female riders of renown unretired for an event on a day dedicated to benefit breast cancer research.

There’s no bigger lady legend of thoroughbred racing than Krone, she of the 3,704 career wins, the only female jockey in the Hall of Fame, the only one to win a Triple Crown (1993 Belmont Stakes, Colonial Affair) or Breeders’ Cup (2003 Juvenile Fillies, Halfbridled) race.
