On a day when camels, ostriches, Calvin Borel and an overflow crowd threatened to steal the show, King of the Roxy
returned from a 15-month layoff to add the winner's purse of $30,000 to
his already hefty $536,734 in lifetime earnings.
"I had the best horse in the race, but after being off a year or
whatever, I wasn't sure what to expect," said jockey Orlando Mojica
Jr., who rode King of the Roxy for the first time.
