Today's Derby contender works featured a five furlong move from Union Rags. The Michael Matz runner has worked four times since Jan 11 and remains on course for his 2012 debut in the Fountain of Youth Stakes at Gulfstream Park on Feb 26.

5f breeze in 1:02.74 (5/11) at Palm Meadows.

#9 Liaison - 4f in :48 (2/7) at Santa Anita. 

#27 Motor City - Breezed 4f in :49.70 (16/30) at Palm Meadows. 

#48 Optimizer - 6f breeze in 1:15.20 (1/2) at Oaklawn Park.  

#78 Monastic - 4f breeze in :49.40 (4/31) at Tampa Bay.

Alpha completed his G3 Withers preparations with a five furlong bullet on Monday. He has also been schooling at the gate and is ready to go on Saturday. The Kiaran McLaughlin trainee is expected to face Hakama, How Do I Win, King Kid, Phil Dancer, Speightscity, Swag Daddy, and Tiger Walk.
