workouts for Tuesday, January 24

 
Today's Derby contender works featured a solid five furlong move from G1 Champagne Stakes hero Union Rags. The Michael Matz trainee will make his much anticipated return in the G1 Fountain of Youth Stakes at Gulfstream Park on Feb 26.

#2 Union Rags  – 5f breeze in 1:00.82 (2/28) at Palm Meadows.

#51 Optimizer - Breezed 5f in 1:03.20 (15/25) at Oaklawn Park. 

#60 Take Charge Indy - 5f bullet in :59.78 (1/28) at Palm Meadows.

Notes:

 

Stephanoatsee, last seen rallying for the place behind Alpha in the Count Fleet Stakes, is off the Kentucky Derby trail with a pastern injury. He will have surgery on  Wednesday and will be out of action for at least two months.
