Judy the TCA Beauty at Keeneland

Owned and trained by Wesley Ward, Judy the Beauty sat off the early pace set by Gypsy Robin and just behind Groupie Doll in the TCA. Leaving the far turn, Groupie Doll moved three wide at Gypsy Robin and Livi Makenzie with Judy the Beauty right on her flank.

Judy the Beauty, ridden by John Velazquez, claimed a narrow lead at the eighth pole and outdueled Gypsy Robin and Groupie Doll to the wire, finishing the six furlongs in 1:09.23.

It was the second TCA victory as a trainer for Ward, who won the 2011 renewal with Holiday for Kitten.

A 2010 Keeneland September Sales graduate, Judy the Beauty is a 4-year-old Canadian-bred daughter of Ghostzapper out of the Holy Bull mare Holy Blitz. The victory was worth $120,000 and increased Judy the Beauty’s earnings to $585,757 with a record of 12-5-6-1. It was her first graded stakes victory.

Judy the Beauty returned $8.40, $4.40 and $2.10. Gypsy Robin, ridden by Garrett Gomez, returned $4.80 and $2.20 with Groupie Doll finishing three-quarters of a length back in third and  paying $2.10 to show under Rajiv Maragh.

Purely Hot finished 2¾ lengths back in fourth and was followed in order by Tanglewood Tale and Livi Makenzie.
