Glen Warren’s Joyce’s Rebel,
void of early foot, came from far back while racing outside rivals in the stretch and was up to capture Fair Grounds’ $41,000
Starlight Racing feature by a neck under the lights Friday night at the New Orleans oval.
Trained by
Andy Leggio Jr. and ridden by leading rider
Rosie Napravnik, the
4-year-old colt returned mutuels of $7.40, $4 and $3, increased his
career earnings to $58,571 with his second win in six lifetime starts
and accomplished the six-furlong distance in 1:11.26
in the race restricted to accredited Louisiana-breds.
Steven Dugal and Bill and Kathy Hornsby’s
Rocket King, never far
back, continued willingly on the inside late to gain the place, paying
$7.40 and $5.60 while finishing a neck to the good of Michael Greer’s
Classy Ruler, who returned $6.60 to show.
Tat Hoi Fung’s
Foreversingle alternated for the early lead with splits of 22.16 and 58.20 before giving way.
