Jockey Junior Alvarado was taken to Northwest Community
Hospital in Arlington
Heights, Ill. following an
incident in the fourth race at Arlington
Park Friday when his
mount, Monkey’s Moonbeam, fell approaching the top of the stretch and threw the
rider to the track.
Alvarado was conscious and walked to the track ambulance
under his own power and was taken to the hospital for further evaluation where
it was determined he suffered a broken collar bone, according to his agent Jay
Fedor.
Entering Friday’s races, Alvarado was the track’s leading
rider with 19 wins from 79 mounts.
