Jessamine Attracts Overflow Field

Grass stakes winners Slip Along Band and Soonerette headline an overflow  field of 12 2-year-old fillies and two also-eligibles entered Sunday for Thursday’s 21st running of the $150,000 JPMorgan Chase Jessamine (G3) at 1 1/16 miles on the turf.

The JPMorgan Chase Jessamine is a “Win and You’re In” race for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G2) to be run November 4 at Churchill Downs.

Gillian Campbell and trainer Michael Pino’s Slip Along Band, who is undefeated in two starts, won the Junior Championship at a mile on the turf at Monmouth Park in her most recent outing. Kendrick Carmouche has the mount on Slip Along Band, who will break from post position four.

Robert Zoellner’s Soonerette has won both of her grass starts and enters Thursday’s race off a victory in the one-mile Happy Ticket at Louisiana Downs on September 10. Trained by Donnie Von Hemel, Soonerette will break from post position five and be ridden by Rajiv Maragh.

The field for the JPMorgan Chase Jessamine, from the rail out, is as follows: Charming Vixen (Calvin Borel, 120 pounds), Somali Lemonade (Alex Solis, 118), Spring Eclipse (James Graham, 118), Slip Along Band (Carmouche, 120), Soonerette (Maragh, 120),  Dream Pegasus (Manny Cruz, 118), Honey Talk (Edgar Prado, 118), Falconess (Jon Court, 118), Sweet Cat (John Velazquez, 118), Grace for Grace (Corey Lanerie, 118), Emerald Gold (Garrett Gomez, 118), Piskacha (Manfredi Guzman, 118). Also-Eligibles: Bless My Halo (Miguel Mena, 118) and Quick Silver Song (Rafael Mojica Jr., 118).
