J P's Gusto Works for Best Pal

A confident David Hofmans was a happy trainer this morning following prized 2-year-old J P's Gusto's sharp workout on Monday. The winner of Hollywood Park's Willard Proctor Memorial Stakes and the Grade III Hollywood Juvenile Championship is expected to be one of the favorites for the Grade II, $150,000 Best Pal Stakes on Sunday.

The juvenile son of Successful Appeal went 6 furlongs in 1:13.20 on the main track. "It was a nice work," Hofmans said of his double stakes winner. "He seems to like the track; he gets over it well. We're ready to go."
