Itsmyluckyday Entered in Majestic Light

Classic-placed runner Itsmyluckyday leads a field of seven entered in Saturday’s feature, the $75,000 Majestic Light Stakes at a mile and 70 yards.

Trained by Eddie Plesa Jr., Itsmyluckyday broke his maiden at Monmouth on June 23, 2012.  Since then the 4-year-old colt by Lawyer Ron has won five stakes races, including the Grade 3 Holy Bull Stakes at Gulfstream in his 3-year-old season.  In addition, last year the Trilogy Stable and Laurie Plesa color-bearer was second in the Florida Derby and the Preakness Stakes.

Itsmyluckyday enters the Majestic Light off a three-length score in the Best of the Rest Stakes at Gulfstream on April 26.

Set to take on Itsmyluckyday are six rivals, including graded stakes winners Code West and Golden Itiz as well as stakes winners Spa City Fever and Behemoth.  A field of seven has entered the Majestic Light, which goes as race 11 on a 12-race card.

Monmouth Park’s popular Food Truck Festival returns this Saturday and for the first time will span all three days of the Memorial Day Holiday weekend.  With trucks from across the state set to invade the racetrack, the Food Truck Festival will get underway at 11:30 a.m. each of the three days.

“In just a short period of time, this event has stamped itself a true fan-favorite,” said Pete Verdee, vice president of marketing for the racetrack.  “It’s a great experience for everyone involved and an event that I’m sure will continue to grow in the years to come.”

The food trucks first rolled into Monmouth in 2012 for a one-day event.  Last year they spent two days at Monmouth and of course this year they’ll spend three days in Oceanport.

Among those who will be concocting their culinary delights are:  Empanada Man, Max’s Hot Gods, Hoffman’s Ice Cream, Bacon on Wheels and Enzo’s Pizza, to name but a few.

Monmouth Park gates open at 11:30 a.m., with the first live race slated for 12:50 p.m.  Admission to the Grandstand, where the food trucks will assemble, is $3 – seniors pay $2 and children 12 and under are free.

Taking the stage “On the Green” this Saturday at Monmouth Park will be recording artist Austin Webb, as well as local favorite After the Reign.

Webb, best known for his songs Slip On By and It’s All Good, and After the Reign will take the mic beginning 11:30 a.m. and play through 3:00 p.m.  Country Thunder 106.3 FM will also be on-hand with the two acts.

Live Thoroughbred racing gets underway at 12:50 p.m.
