It's a Boy! - Rachel Alexandra's First Foal

Rachel Alexandra's first foal
I am thrilled to announce that my favorite horse in 40 years of watching the races, Rachel Alexandra, has given birth to her first foal. The bay colt with a white star for a blaze was born at 2:40 pm today, January 22 at Stonestreet Farm. A son of Curlin, the yet to be named 125 pound colt is the product of two of the greatest horses of the 21st century. His parents accounted for three consecutive Horse of the Year awards respectively, (Curlin in 2007 and 2008, and Rachel Alexandra in 2009.) He has a lot to live up to, but I am sure he will be a horse we can all root for. Please join me in giving him the warmest welcome into the world.

Thanks to Stonestreet Farm for the timely update and the fantastic photos.

That is amazing! He looks like a champion already!! Adorable!! Best wishes for both of 'em! Now we wait on Z's baby!
They both look so good. Can't wait to see him race. Now we wait on Zenyatta!!
Please not another Storm Cat if anyone catches my drift.
I am sticking with what I have been saying since forever: NEXT TRIPLE CROWN WINNER!
Thx for the pix, daddy colour & mommy star, so nice to see , & wishing them good health and fortune.
Make sure you watch the video on the Stonestreet website! Rachel is a very attentive mom!
They should name him after Jess Jackson and call him, Jess's Star or Star of Jess.
Star of Currach,,,now thats a million $$$ name,,, where do i pick up my dough ???
He is alot lighter in color than his "newborn" pics from yesterday. http://www.stonestreetfarms.com/info/?page_id=144
He's beautiful, and I hope both mother and son continue to do well. Run a hole in the wind, baby boy.
Just saw and updated picture of the colt. He look amazing, love the star on his forehead. He took a combination of his mom and dad color.
I'm very glad he's arrived safely!
So adorable! He's gonna be a stakes winner.
good mom and "child" are in good condition
Looks like the coat is a combination of Curlin & Rachel. Blaze is smaller then both parents. Fantastic story. Curlin was a great champion, but Rachel inspired me more. I totally agree with Brian on this story.
