It Tiz, a 5-year-old daughter of Tiznow, will be out to defend her
title in the $75,000 Megahertz Stakes, a supporting feature Saturday for
older fillies and mares at one mile on turf that attracted eight
entrants.
Allen and Susan Branch’s It Tiz rallied to upset at 8-1 odds in
last year’s Megahertz while defeating Lilly Fa Pootz by one-half length.
Alonso Quinonez takes over the reins as trainer Mark Glatt’s bay mare
attempts to put the skids on a five-race losing streak that dates back
to the 2011 Megahertz. It Tiz is a winner of $260,183 from a 5-1-1
showing in 19 lifetime starts.
David Flores, who rode It Tiz last year, has taken the call on
Wild Mia in this year’s renewal. Trained by Jerry Fanning for Rosemont
Stud, Wild Mia is coming off a strong second at 28-1 odds in the Grade
III Monrovia Stakes on Jan. 2. The 5-year-old gray mare owns a career
record of 4-7-0 in 15 starts for earnings of $266,502.
