The actions he once took for granted are harder now -- navigating
between barns on the backside, passing through a turnstile near the
grandstand -- but Michael Straight conquers each hurdle as it comes.
Never mind that he watches morning works from a wheelchair. Never mind
that the rumble of hooves strikes a yearning in his soul. He is back at
the racetrack, and in years ahead he will remember these days as vital
in the road to recovery from his tragic fall.
