Include Me Out Wants Redemption in Hirsch

Jay Em Ess Stable’s Include Me Out, upset as the 3-5 favorite in the Vanity Handicap at Betfair Hollywood Park in mid-June, will be seeking redemption Saturday when she heads a field of eight older fillies and mares in the 42nd running of the Grade I $300,000  Clement L. Hirsch Stakes at Del Mar.

The Hirsch Stakes is part of the Breeders’ Cup’s “Win and You’re In” program with the nominated winner of Saturday’s race earning automatic entry into the Ladies Classic at Santa Anita in early November plus the waiving of pre-entry and entry fees and a $10,000 travel stipend.

Include Me Out, a talented four-year-old  Kentucky-bred daughter of Include trained by Ron Ellis, has won  five of 10 lifetime starts, including the Grade I Santa Margarita in a string of three consecutive stakes victories which also numbered the La Canada Stakes and  Marjorie L. Everett Handicap.

Include Me Out appeared en route to victory in the Vanity, opening up a three-length advantage in the stretch when she seemed to ease up and was passed by longshot
Love Theway Youare. Joe Talamo has the call again Saturday in the Hirsch.

Among the opposition for the likely favorite is Chilean-bred stakes star Amani, making her American debut for owner Sumaya US Stables and trainer Neil Drysdale.

Amani, who will be piloted by Garrett Gomez, has won 10 of 11 races, including four Group One races in her homeland, defeating males on one occasion.

Also  certain to attract strong backing is C R K Stable’s Switch, third in the 2011 Hirsch Stakes behind Ultra Blend and Zazu. The five-year-old Quiet American mare comes into Saturday’s race off a victory in the seven-furlong A Gleam Handicap which she won by almost two lengths over Sugarinthemorning. Martin Garcia has the riding assignment from conditioner John Sadler.

Completing the field will be Quaintly, with Yuichi Fukunaga; Kayce Ace, Aaron Gryder; Zafeen’s Pearl, a recent Del Mar winner, with Chantal Sutherland; Star Billing, Rafael Bejarano, and Great Hot, Victor Espinoza up.

Post time for the first race Saturday is 2 p.m. with the Hirsch Stakes carded as the eighth of ten races.
