Pass It On

I donated to a thoroughbred retirement program this week - Pass It On

Pass It On - Three little words that can help the horses we love retire safely, well taken care of, and with dignity.

Please, Pass It On!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Didn't know that, thanks >> a personal favorite.
the Eclipse award winning sprinter Chinook Pass had a long career as a jumper once retired from racing too.
here is the website describing this program http://www.doccs.ny.gov/ProgramServices/vocational.html#hors
one of the REALLY good programs is in New York where trustee prisoners are taught how to be grooms. The program has been really sucessful at reducing recidivism, and to many of these people, it is the very first time they have related to another being that way..BRAVO for the people who initiated it and fund it today...BRAVO
Long Run, our local society, does good work in re-locating retired race horses to good homes.
Have you passed it on this week? Will you next week? #PassItOn
Remember Me Rescue is a well-run charity in Texas. They do a great job of retraining.
Thank you to everyone that has donated to Beyond The Roses Equine Rescue & Retirement. We are a registered 501c3 non-profit that helps TB's when they can no longer race.
Thank you everyone for supporting all the wonderful retirement programs that give our horses options after racing!
Southern California Thourough Rescue does a wonderful job of rescuing and rehalitating horses that might otherwise go to slaughter
One of my favorite organizations is TROTT. Their mission is to encourage owners and trainers to retire their marginal horses while they are still healthy enough to be re-trained for another voation.
The link to the NTRA clearinghouse for information about equine aftercare: http://www.ntraaftercare.com/
A good place to start to get educated on equine aftercare issues. Check out the Thoroughbred Connect program: Thoroughbred Connect is the Jockey Club's free online service designed to assist with placement of Thoroughbreds following the conclusion of their racing or breeding careers. Once again, though, who decides when it's time to "connect"? There has to be some accountability of trainers and owners to avail themselves of these resources! Kind of obvious but "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink"! We have to incentivize owners and trainers to seek the services of these programs earlier rather than later.
Love the traction #PassItOn has gotten already ... Thank you to all who are making a difference in helping the horses we love!
Done. And have added to my list of annual support for causes very dear to me.
Slaughter is an even worse fate than the $4,000 claiming at Evangeline. Auction Horses Rescue pulls tons of ex-racers from the kill-buyer sales in S. CA, sadly. Check them out on fb.
www.specialhorses.org is running a fundraiser for The Exceller Fund - http://www.specialhorses.org/Auction.asp?id=16 - all proceeds are of course tax deductible...and you'll get a chance to learn more about the wonderful work done by this fine organization!
What would be an enormous help to any of these organizations is not only money, but if someone could adopt a horse. It frees up space for another horse to have a chance.
Money is meaningful but I've always believed that practicing what you preached meant doing something physically. Never hurts to log a few hours at a rescue
Oh come on people! 3 little words. Pass it on!!!
