Stakes winner Hotep is the probable favorite as he makes his first
start in Canadian restricted company in the $1-million Queen’s Plate at
Woodbine on Sunday.
The first leg of the Canadian Triple Crown, the 1 ¼-mile race on
Polytrack attracted a field of 13 Canadian-foaled three-year-olds,
including two fillies—Woodbine Oaks winner Roan Inish and runner-up
Moment of Majesty.
Bred and owned by Sam-Son Farms, Hotep is an A.P. Indy colt out of
Canadian champion three-year-old filly Eye of the Sphynx. His full
brother Eye of the Leopard won the Plate and was named Canada’s
champion three-year-old colt last year.
