Horse Racing Photos of the Year Contest Announced

I'll Have Another wins the 2012 Kentucky Derby

The Horse Racing Photojournalists of North America (HRPNA) announced Friday a call for entries in its first-ever "Photos of the Year" contest.

The HRPNA created the contest to shine a light on the work photojournalists do for horse racing. With so many beautiful venues, people and events in the sport, it is hoped this contest will increase public awareness of the people who capture it all with their skilled eyes, as well as share the works with fellow photojournalists.

Photos may be submitted in 8 categories: Racing Action, Racing Action - Remote, Feature On-Track, Feature On-Track, Scenic, Details, The Backside and Portrait Personality.  All images will be visible to the public during an open voting period. The top five in each category will face a panel of three experience photojournalists for final judging.

OCD Pellets sponsors the contest and provides the prizes.

For complete rules and to submit a photo go here.

Another awesome photo!
I thought this photo of Gold Ship by the talented Kate Hunter was pretty awesome: http://www.flickr.com/photos/keiblog/8300205696/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
No, but I was think maybe the Travers photo finish photo? Just a thought.
Game Face would be under category f.
What? I was not expecting a rebuttal. One can see the past, present, if they are not scared or in awe of the majesty, and the future of the magnificent Thoroughbred for generations hundreds of years ago and to come in that photo. Do you have an action photo for review, URR?
Lovely photo there, Mary!! I think the fans will be looking for a action shot, sadly.
This one should win: http://pinterest.com/pin/31947478577570144/
