Florida import Dreamed to Dream worked six
furlongs on turf in 1:14.40 under Brice Blanc Thursday for her California
debut in the $150,000 Honeymoon Handicap May 31. The Grade II test is for
3-year-old fillies at 1 1/8 miles on grass.
“I’ve had her about a month,” said
trainer Brian Koriner. “She ran good back there (Gulfstream Park), had a
little trouble in her last out, and it’s a good program here for 3-year-old
fillies.”
Dreamed to Dream, a Florida-bred
chestnut by Deputy Wild Cat, won two of four turf starts at Gulfstream and
rallied to finish third in the Boynton Beach Stakes in her last start April 17
after hitting the gate at the start. She is owned by Aurora Springs Stable.
Senorita Stakes winner Cozi Rosie
(Mike Smith) is expected to return in the Honeymoon, along with runners-up
Andina (Joe Talamo) and City to City (Joel Rosario), respectively. Cozi Rosie
worked five furlongs in 59.80 on the main track for the John Sadler stable
Thursday.
Trainer Jim Cassidy is expected to
make a decision with Evening Jewel after a turf work here Sunday. Winner of the
Grade I Ashland Stakes and beaten by a nose in the Grade I Kentucky Oaks, the
filly has never raced on grass.
Also nominated are Antares World,
Bonnie Blue Flag, Camille C, Conniption, Crisp, Distorted Promise, Glass of
Red, Harmonious, In the Slips, Morekissesforpatti, Riviera Chic and
Triple Cream.
