Having won three races on
Tuesday’s card, jockey Rosemary Homeister, Jr. is looking to repeat her 2009
success as Colonial Downs’ leading jockey.
Homeister’s first win came in
the second race, where the Hamilton Smith-trained Feisty Broad broke her maiden
by an impressive eleven lengths. After dueling two wide on the inside,
Homeister moved Feisty Broad wide around the turn and kept her under constant
hand pressure through the finish.
In the fifth race, Homeister
rode Kathleen O’Connell’s Sky Cup to a 2 ¼ length win as the favorite. Sky Cup ran
unhurried early on before swinging wide around the final turn and taking
command through the stretch.
Homeister’s third win was in
the finale, where she rode the Monte Thomas-trained favorite Dancingfordiamonds
to a three length victory after setting the pace. Homeister also took home two
seconds and a third on the card.
Colonial Downs
presents a ten-race card on Wednesday, June 2, with a post time of 4:00 PM.
