The victory by Holiday for Kitten represented the 100th Keeneland triumph for the Ramseys, who rank 10th
all time in Keeneland victories and earned the 3-year-old filly a spot
in the starting gate for the Sentient Jet Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare
Sprint (G1) to be run November 4 at Churchill Downs.
Trained
by Wesley Ward and ridden by Kendrick Carmouche, Holiday for Kitten
pressed the pace set by Rapport, who led the field through fractions of
:21.96 and :44.61. Holiday for Kitten, winner of the Giant’s Causeway
here in April, disposed of Rapport at midstretch and held off a late
charge from Musical Romance by a head to complete the six furlongs on
the main track in 1:08.72.
A
homebred daughter of Kitten’s Joy, Holiday for Kitten improved her
record to 11-4-2-2 and boosted her career bankroll to $271,945 with
Saturday’s $120,000 check.
Holiday
for Kitten returned $39.60, $17.20 and $7.80. Musical Romance, ridden
by Juan Leyva, returned $9.40 and $4.60 in finishing three-quarters of a
length ahead of favored Switch, who returned $2.60 to show under Joel
Rosario.
Completing
the field in order were Rapport, Indulgence, Shotgun Gulch, I Knot,
Promised Mandate, Devil by Design, Dances With Ashley and Diamond Song.
