Heiligbrodt Racing Stable’s Hallway, void of early
foot, responded boldly when set down for the drive and got up to prove best by
three-quarters of a length in Friday’s $47,000 one-mile and 40-yard allowance
feature at Fair Grounds.
Valene Farms’ Ide Like a Double, always well placed,
continued willingly late to save the place but could not withstand the winner
and paid $6.40 and $4.40.
Southern Equine Stables’ Up and Out of Site made the
pace with splits of 24.68 and 49.30 before weakening late to pay $14.80 in the
show spot.
Racing resumes Saturday at Fair Grounds with a 10-race
program beginning at 12:40 p.m.
As part the favored entry, the winner gave trainer Steve
Asmussen and jockey Shaun Bridgmohan a trainer-jockey triple for the
day, but the riding star of the afternoon later became jockey John Jacinto,
who completed a four-win day in Friday’s last race.
Hallway returned mutuels of $4.60, $2.80 and $2.20,
increased his career earnings to $355,917 with his sixth career victory in 30
lifetime starts and accomplished the distance in 1:40.92.
