The Breeders’ Cup and HRTV today announced a multi-year media rights agreement which makes HRTV the official simulcast partner of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships and the preferred Horse Racing Network provider of the event.

The Breeders’ Cup, Thoroughbred racing’s most prestigious global event, consisting of 15 races with purses totaling more than $25 million, will be held on November 2-3 at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, Calif.

As a part of the agreement, HRTV, a television-based multimedia network dedicated to equine sports, will produce and simulcast the Breeders’ Cup Players’ Show (formerly the simulcast show), airing live all 15 Breeders’ Cup races to off track wagering sites around the globe, and streamed live on HRTV.com and breederscup.com.

HRTV will also televise all of the Breeders’ Cup races, with the exception of the Breeders’ Cup Classic, to its viewers as the only domestic horse racing cable channel of the event. (NBC will televise the Breeders’ Cup Classic live and in primetime from 8-9 p.m. ET on November 3. NBC Sports Network will also televise live 14 Breeders’ Cup races).

“We are delighted to announce our new, multi-year partnership with HTRV for the Breeders’ Cup,” said Craig Fravel, Breeders’ Cup President and CEO. “The overall production capabilities and creative talents and expertise of HRTV are sure to provide fans and bettors with comprehensive coverage of this year’s Championships over multiple platforms.”

"HRTV is extremely proud to have been chosen by the Breeders’ Cup as their official simulcast partner and preferred horseracing cable channel," said Scott Daruty, President of HRTV. "The Breeders’ Cup World Championships is one of the most highly-anticipated events on the racing calendar, and our outstanding production team is excited to bring the best coverage of these important races to racing fans around the world."

In support of its live horse racing telecast and simulcast presentations of the World Championships, HRTV will also provide extensive programming leading to the Breeders’ Cup on its cable channel, and streamed on authorized websites, including,

·                     Live telecast of the Breeders’ Cup Post Position Draw on October 29.

·                     Weekly Thursday presentations of Pursuit of the Cup, which feature comprehensive news and analysis of major races and contenders for the Breeders’ Cup,  beginning August 2, and Sunday presentations of Pursuit of the Cup beginning September 2.

·                     During Breeders’ Cup Week, HRTV will televise the Westrock Coffee First Call program live from Clockers’ Corner and will provide special presentations of Pursuit of the Cup, The Edge, and Across the Board.

So this means Frank Stronach has his claws ever deeper into the Breeders Cup and clearly he is still trying to make Santa Anita the permanent home of the Breeders Cup. As if horse racing doesn't have enough problems, what with the Ontario Govt, Gov. Cuomo who will gut NY racing in a few weeks times, we need Stronach and his manipulations like a hole in the head. This obviously coincides with his plan to race year round at Gulfstream to fully dominate the market in Florida.
So, lets get the buzz started about Breeders Cup 2012!!
