HRN Monmouth Report : Week 12

Horse Racing Nation is your source for the $50 million summer meet at Monmouth Park. HRN Editor Jarrod Horak will recap all of the action from the Jersey Shore, including track bias information and horses to watch. This is his eleventh in a series of reports from Monmouth Park.

August 6 (day 34) - Fast and Firm

Both surfaces seemed to play fair.

Joe Bravo, Eddie Castro, Chuck Lopez, and Paco Lopez each booted home a pair. Charles Dickey saddled two winners, and Jose Valdivia Jr/Rick Dutrow teamed up for two wins on the day.

Amazon Holly (8th race) sat the right tactical trip to win this grass route for fillies and mares, but the same cannot be said of runner-up Three Emeralds. The latter was bumped at the start and rallied through traffic in a fine effort. The Kathy Mongeon trainee deserves a look next time.

August 7 (day 35) - Fast and Firm

Both surfaces seemed to play fair.

Hat trick for Elvis Trujillo. Eddie Castro and Paco Lopez both booted home a pair. Robert Dibona saddled two winners and Trujillo rode both.

A Unique Treasure (9th race) was aggressively handles from the rail and kept on finding in the $100,000 My Frenchman Stakes for turf sprinters.

Tweive Pack Shelly (10th race) used her speed and experience to run her rivals off their feet in the $100,000 Colleen Stakes for juvenile fillies. R Heat Lightning rallied to finish a clear second and is a long-term prospect to watch for Todd Pletcher.

August 8 (day 36) - Fast and Firm

Both surfaces seemed to play fair once again.

Hat trick for Paco Lopez. Roberto Alvarado Jr. and Elvis Trujillo both booted home a pair. Terri Pompay saddled two winners on the day.

Out of Respect (3rd race) hooked up with favorite Comedero from the outset and put that one away in a game Select Stakes tally.

Sunshine Rambler (10th race) rallied to finish a wide 3rd from the outside post in this Optional Claiming dirt route. Look for a tactical trip with a better draw next time.
