Fans of multi-race wagers, particularly those involving
high-quality turf stakes races, will find plenty of opportunity to partake in
such bets on Arlington Million Day on Saturday, August 21 when the track will
play host to three Grade I turf stakes, a Grade III turf event and an overnight
stakes race that will comprise most of the back half of the 12-race card that
starts at 12:15 p.m. Central time.
Highlighting the day of racing will be the 28th
running of the Arlington Million, which will be the 10th race of the
day. The race will be immediately preceded by its sister race, the
$750,000 Beverly D. as the ninth race of the afternoon and the $400,000
Secretariat Stakes for 3-year-olds as the eighth event. Those three
races, all Grade I in stature, will comprise the Festival 3 and offer a
$300,000 guaranteed pool.
Since Arlington Park offers rolling Pick 3 wagers through
out the day, there will be two additional all turf stakes Pick 3 wagers
covering races 7-9 and races 9-11.
In addition to the Festival 3, Arlington Park
will offer an all graded stakes Pick 4 covering races 7-10: the $100,000 Stars
and Stripes (race 7), the Secretariat, the Beverly D. and the Arlington Million.
Also, the Late Pick 4 will cover races 9-12: the Beverly
D., the Arlington Million, the $60,000 Hatoof Stakes for 3-year-old fillies and
a 5 ½-furlong turf sprint to conclude the card.
An All-Turf Pick 5 will start on race six, featuring the four
graded stakes plus a yet to be determined overnight grass race.
The day’s Pick 6 will cover races 5-10 have at least five
turf races in the sequence and depending on how the rest of the card is
assembled at entry time Wednesday could also be an all-turf wager.
All of Arlington’s races on Million Day will offer standard
win, place, show, exacta, trifecta and superfecta races subject to Illinois
Racing Board rules and one of the three Grade I will offer a Super High Five
wager with that race to be determined at draw time for those races on Tuesday,
August 17.
