Great Hot, Mizdirection Travel for Raven Run

Great Hot (BRZ), who finished third in the 1 1/16-mile Lady’s Secret (G1) at Santa Anita on October 1 behind Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic (G1) hopefuls Zazu and Ultra Blend, has been entered in Saturday’s $250,000 Lexus Raven Run (G2). Entries for the 13th running of seven-furlong race for 3-year-old fillies were drawn on Wednesday.

 

Chantal Sutherland, who has made only one previous start at Keeneland, was named to ride Great Hot, who will break from post position four in the field of 13. A.C. Avila trains the Orientate filly, who races for Luiz Dannemann’s Coudelaria Jessica. On September 4, Great Hot won the one-mile Torrey Pines over Del Mar’s Polytrack.

 

Another Southern California invader in the Lexus Raven Run is Mizdirection, who won the Sandy Blue at a mile on turf at Del Mar on August 19. Mike Puype trains the Mizzen Mast filly, who races for a partnership that includes noted sports commentator Jim Rome.

 

Other entrants include the respective winner, runner-up and fourth-place finisher in the Charles Town Oaks in West Virginia on September 17: Strike the Moon, Groupie Doll and Hot Summer.
