Keep this guy on your radar screen .... at least at this point.
On Sunday, January 29, 2012, El Padrino proved his 12 ¾ length victory over maidens in the slop last year at Belmont Park was no fluke.  Breaking sharply from the second position, the flashy Chestnut colt briefly contested the lead before settling back into fourth place along the rail. Ever wonder what $950,000 could buy you? One intriguing answer came to light in today’s allowance optional claiming race at Santa Anita. The one mile affair featured a pair of well thought of sophomores facing off in each horse’s third lifetime start. After fast early fractions set by one, Consulado...Read More

Used to be a great and unique venue that has fallen far from its once proud position of prominance in the racing game
LOng history back to the 1870's when Lucky Baldwin opned up Rancho de Santa Anita in honor of his daughter
One of the greats. A.P. Indy always puts out runners. Great sire.
  • travel_vic · A late bloomer who was at the top of his game for a few races. We will never know as he left the stage too soon. Was he in regression when he met Invasor or what??? We won't know · 1 hour ago ·

I think he is one of the all time greats. He won 20 races, and lost the 1 because of a bad ride by Loftus. if people say I 'm wrong, look at it this way: You call Zenyatta great, and she won 19 of 20 with one loss by a nose. Man O' War on the other hand, won 20 out of 21 and lost one by a nose, and won by many more legnths, yet you do not call him great. Why?
  • travel_vic · Have you read the chart? the description of the race? the substitute starter called out of retirement of the day who let the field get away when MOW was turned sideways?? READ before you hold the jockey responsible · 1 hour ago ·

  • travel_vic · Zenyatta, by all stadards of racing, with that late late style, SHOULD NOT BE. That is why she is unparalled in all of racing. NO late mover like that in history did what she did.NONE of them · 1 hour ago ·
