Goldikova Makes History in Breeders' Cup Mile

6 November 2010: Goldikova (IRE), ridden by Olivier Peslier and trained by Freddy Head, makes it three in a row with a come from behind win in the TVG Breeders Cup Mile at Churchill Downs in Louisville, KY. (Scott Serio/Eclipse Sportswire)
Goldikova burst through the pack from post 10 to win the Breeders' Cup Mile for the third straight year.

Under patient handling from Olivier Peslier, Goldikova sat about seven lengths back before creeping closer around the far turn. She uncorked a strong turn of foot to make history as the first 3-time Breeders' Cup winner.

The Freedie Head trained mare has won 15 of her 21 career starts including 13 of her 16 outings at one-mile on the turf.

2009 Breeders' Cup Classic runner-up Gio Ponti finished 2nd and West Coast invader The Usual Q. T. landed the show.
