Golden Mystery dueled early through fractions of :21 4/5 for the quarter and
:44 2/5 for the half mile, before asserting her authority and drawing off to a
three-length win in the $60,000 Mongo Queen Stakes at Monmouth Park on
Saturday.

Mystery covered the six furlongs over a fast main track in 1:09 flat and paid
$13.20, $5 and $4. D’cats Meow completed
the $49 exacta and returned $3.40 and $3.
It was 2 ¾ lengths back to Winning Image, who paid $5.60 to show. Hour Glass, the odds-on favorite in the field
of six fillies and mares, checked in fourth.
“She’s really been doing
well,” said winning trainer Juan Carlos Guerrero. “We were confident going into this race that
she’d run the way she did. The whole
thing with her is just to keep her happy.
Once you do that, she does the rest.”
Golden Mystery was making her
first start since June 11 and for Guerrero.
From six starts this season, she sports a pair of victories and is now
six for 24 lifetime. The 5-year-old mare
by Awesome Again out of the Saint Ballado mare Mysterious Angel has earned
$217,773.
