Shared Belief, the champion 2-year-old of 2013, will make his long-awaited and much-anticipated 3-year-old debut Monday at Golden Gate Fields in a six-furlong allowance race.

Shared Belief will run in the fourth race on a special Memorial Day program that features the Grade 3 $100,000 All American Stakes.  Post time for the nine-race card is 12:45 p.m.  The All American is the seventh race and will be run at 3:55 p.m.

Post time for the fourth race is 2:17 p.m. and Shared Belief will face four rivals in the $35,000 Onebadshark allowance purse.  The race will be Shared Belief’s first since Dec. 14, 2013, when he ran away to a 5 3/4-length victory in the Grade 1 $750,000 CashCall Futurity, the last graded stakes contested at now defunct Betfair Hollywood Park.

The CashCall victory established Shared Belief as one of the early favorites for the 2014 Kentucky Derby and capped a short but sweet juvenile campaign that also featured a 7 3/4-length victory in the Grade 3 Hollywood Prevue Stakes at Betfair Hollywood Park on Nov. 10 and an impressive seven-length maiden score at Golden Gate Fields on Oct. 19.

Shared Belief, trained by Jerry Hollendorfer, was knocked off the Triple Crown trail in January due to a quarter crack and abscess in his right front foot.  Shared Belief recovered from his foot ailment at Golden Gate Fields and recorded his first work (three furlongs in :38 2/5 handily) on April 15.

Shared Belief has had seven workouts in preparation for his comeback start, including a pair of five-furlong bullet moves (1:00 2/5 handily on May 15 and 1:00 4/5 handily from the gate on May 8).

Shared Belief, a Kentucky-bred son of Candy Ride, debuted for owner-breeders Pam and Martin Wygod and trainer Jedd Josephson but was purchased privately after the maiden score by Hollendorfer, who owns the gelding in partnership with Jim Rome's Jungle Racing, Alex Solis II, Jason Litt, KMN Racing, and George Todaro.

“He’s running here because I didn’t want to ship,” said Hollendorfer.  “No matter where you run, it (the first start back) is going to be tough.”

Shared Belief, who has earned $451,200 in his three races, will break from post position four and be ridden by Russell Baze Saturday.

The field for the Onebadshark, in post position order, is as follows: Zehner’s Zenna, Alejandro Gomez rides; Moonshine Bay, Juan Hernandez; Valiant Flame, Pedro Terrero; Shared Belief, Baze; and Ourwestcoastghost, Frank Alvarado.

The All American will feature a rematch between Pepper Crown, Summer Hit and Hudson Landing, who ran one-two-three in the Grade 3 San Francisco Mile on April 26. While the SF Mile was run on turf, the All American will be decided at one mile on Tapeta.

The field for the All American, in post position order, is as follows: You Know I Know, Elvis Trujillo rides; China Prince, Dennis Carr; Pepper Crown, Abel Cedillo; Minister Vivendi, Ricardo Gonzalez; Longview Drive, William Antongeorgi III; Hudson Landing, Juan Hernandez; and Summer Hit, Russell Baze.
