Clarkland Farm and Gregory Foley’s Getaway Guy
lived up to his name at Fair Grounds Monday, making the pace
and then drawing off for a 4 3/4-length score in the featured $51,000
allowance optional claiming event contested at about 5 1/2-furlongs over
the Stall-Wilson turf course.
Getaway Guy, trained by
Greg Foley and ridden by Corey Lanerie,
toured the distance in 1:05.02 after establishing early splits of 22.53
and 48.78, increased his career earnings to $49,780 with
his second victory from five lifetime starts and returned mutuels of
$9.80, $3.60 and $2.80.
W. S. Farish and Skara Glen Stable’s favored
Close Ally, settled
early, began a bid in the stretch to be clearly second best, paying $3
and $2.20 and finished 1 3/4-lengths in front of Ken Sentel and Merrill
Scherer’s
It Doesn’t Add Up, who returned $3.20 in the show position.
