Two-time
Grade 1 winner Get Stormy has his final work for Sunday’s Grade 2
Fourstardave this morning, covering five furlongs in 1:00.32 over the Oklahoma
training track turf course.
“He
worked just fine,” said trainer Tom Bush, noting that the 5-year-old son of
Stormy Atlantic was eased through the final yards instead of galloping out
because of a loose horse ahead of him on the course. “The rider did the right
thing.”
After
an eighth-place finish in the Grade 3 Fort Lauderdale Handicap on January 9,
Get Stormy finished third in the Grade 1 Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap, and
then put together back-to-back victories in a pair of Grade 1 events, the
Maker’s Mark Mile at Keeneland and the Woodford Reserve Turf Classic at
Churchill Downs,
Get
Stormy, who won last year’s Fourstardave, was third in his most recent start,
the Grade 3 Monmouth on June 12.
“He
had a great spring,” said Bush, who trains Get Stormy for Sullimar Stable. “We
hope to keep that going. He’s had a little breather between this race and the
last, and he runs well fresh, so hopefully we’re ready to rumble.”
